For the First time the PWA tour went to Asia – to Mui Ne Beach, Vietnam. It was a hell of a trip to get there with enough trouble again to get your gear there. From Bangkok to Ho Chi Ming the bags were allowed 32 kg and coming back from Ho Chi Ming to Bangkok the bags were only allowed 20 kg. After repacking and discussing in length I was able to bring the prize down from 480 $ to 250 $. For the rest it was a well organized event with lots of media coverage all over Asia. Tough conditions which I kind of liked. I was there already 2.5 weeks to get used to the conditions and thermal winds which were very punctual, 4.3 every day as of 1 o’clock, 4.0 by 3 o’clock and dropping and turning again at 5 o’clock. Perfect for sailing every days for 3-4 hours!
The 4 days event with 3 days on 4.3/4.0 and 1 day on 4.7, became my best results ever with a 5th place in the first PWA event of the year!
